ATV/UTVs in the Village

The Village adopted an ordinance that allows ATVs and UTVs to drive along Village streets. The signs marking which local streets as ATV/UTV routes are now installed. Here are a few things you should know:

·      ATCs are only allowed on roadways with posted speed limits of 35mph or less.

·      ATV/UTVs are not allowed on most State Highways.  This includes Hwy 60, Hwy 175 and Hwy 164 subject to the posted speed limit.

·      ATVs/UTVs must drive the posted speed limit.

·      Under the age of 18 must ride with a DOT approved helmet (bike helmets do not qualify).

·      Under age of 16 are not allowed to operate an ATV/UTV on public streets.

·      UTVs are required to operate with their headlights and taillights on at all times.

·      Passengers can only ride in areas designated for passengers as built at the factory.  Modified passenger areas are not legal.

·      All ATV/UTV operators shall ride single file.

·      The operator of an ATV/UTV shall obey all traffic laws, local ordinances, and DNR regulations.

As we share the road with this new group of users, let’s make sure we all follow the rules of the road and be safe.
